The Sunbrella Fabric Durability Challenge

For a while now we’ve been talking about how durable Sunbrella Fabric really is. Sometimes you just have to see it to believe it. Below is a video of multiple people attempting to stain this incredible fabric. They try everything from red wine to chocolate sauce and in the end using just some tap water the fabric remains clean and stainless. To top it off they even go as far as to show that any color awning fabric made by Sunbrella can be cleaned with a simple bleach and water mixture without any loss of color. Is it time to recover you old or faded awning? Contact New Haven Awning now to keep that canopy shining for years to come. Check out more videos on our YouTube...

Gateway Apartments Get A Great Entrance Awning

The mini neighborhood that’s dubbed “Downtown West” by The Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust now has a great new entrance awning with custom graphics. To keep the black fabric popping we used Sunbrella fabric. This remarkable material resists fading and regardless of the color can even be cleaned with bleach with the loss of color. Unlike others Sunbrella fabrics are saturated to the core with highly UV-stable pigments making it extremely resistant to fading and because the fabric is 100% acrylic it also resists tears and frays. Stay tuned for more on this magnificent fabric. Next week we will have a video of this material truly being put to the test.   Breaking ground on a new project? Winterize Your Fabric Awnings!

Window awnings can drop your cooling costs by up to 61%, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The heat reduction that awnings provide will keep your home feeling cooler in the summer. While you dream of sunshine during the winter, you should tuck away your awnings. Winterizing your awnings before putting them away will protects the fabric from damage due to cold temperatures, strong winds, ice and snow. Done correctly, a awning winter-prep routine leaves awnings looking fresh and ready to block the elements when spring finally returns. Brush off any leaves, dirt or debris from the awning. Make sure to start from the top edge of the awning and work your way down toward the bottom edge. Hose off the awning to remove dirt that is stuck. You can use a soft-bristled brush to get out stains or dirt spots. In a bucket Mix a small amount of mild dish soap in warm water  to eliminate stubborn stains. Scrub the awning in a back and forth motion. Be sure to keep the brush damp and rinse frequently to avoid spreading the dirt around. Rinse the awning thoroughly with the hose. Let the awning sit fully opened until it is completely dry. Closing the awning when it’s...

ECL in Madison CT Gets Leaking Enclosure Repaired & A Fresh New Look!

New Haven Awning was in Madison Connecticut earlier this month at Environmental Consulting Laboratories. They had an older patio enclosure that was leaking from the glass roof and we had a great plan to fix the issue while saving them money. What we did was cover the roof in a new convex awning using Weblon Coastline plus® vinyl. This gave them a great new look while costing only a fraction of what it would have been to replace the top glass. Coastline Plus® is known as the “no-fuss, no-muss type of awning fabric” because unlike some inferior acrylic awning fabrics Coastline Plus will not shrink, sag, stretch or start to pocket.  In other words this fabric can handle what ever mother nature throws at...
